Electronic instruments limited (EIL), a reputed company of united kingdom had designed a very good model of dissolved oxygen analyser. In this electro-chemical type analyzer, accuracy is accomplished at the cost of response time. If we use the amperometric cell, high response is achieved at the cost of accuracy. EIL’s design is based on a Makereth cell. This cell is composed of a membrane covered sensor which is free from any ion exchangers and chemical additives. This provides fast and accurate response. Another feature of this analyzer is that it gives direct measurement and therefore chemical preconditioning is not required. The sensor used here is a galvanic cell with a lead anode, a silver cathode and alkaline electrolyte.
